Happy Easter!!

We had a pretty low key Easter this year, spending it just as a family of three.  We started the day off with church (nursery still for EC), then we came home so Emmy Cate could get her Easter basket.  Luckily, this kid isn’t much into sweets so it wasn’t a big deal when we had to take the candy away from her.

We headed to the club for Easter brunch and saw many of our friends … there were over 600 people there!

After lunch, we did what EC repeated the entire lunch, which was “go outside, sit in Bunny’s lap”.  She ran right up to him and jumped into his lap, but we couldn’t get any smiles!

The club had a mini petting zoo for the kids and it was a big hit with EC.  She got to pet sheep, goats, ponies, pigs, and even got to hold a bunny!!

Puppy Dog

No we did not get one!!

Anyone that knows Emmy Cate knows how much she loves puppies .. much to the chagrin of her parents.  It’s not like we don’t like all dogs, we just don’t like dogs for us!  Our friends Jen and Dewi recently bought a puppy in Atlanta and drove down to pick him up.  They made a pit stop to show him off to EC before heading back up North, and he is a cute little guy named Radar.

Do Daddy Nana

… which translates into “Please sing the banana song with Daddy’s name inserted in it”.  And what is the banana song you may ask?  I don’t know what it’s really called but that’s what Emmy Cate calls it and it goes a little something like this:

“Daddy, Daddy, bo baddy, banana fana fo fatty, me my mo matty, Daddy!”

So can usually think up a bunch of friend’s and family member’s names to use, so the game gets repeated … “Do Mommy Nana” and on and on and on!

Her other favorite conversation to have goes as follows:

Something like a ball or toy will fall to the ground where she can’t see it and she’ll say:

“Where’d ball go?”

Then, holding up her arms with palms to the sky, she’ll say “I don’t know”

After searching for it and finding it, she says “Here it is.  I found it!”

She thinks it’s a game and will drop things and repeat!

And because it wouldn’t be a post without pictures, here are a couple of things from school.  The first is a pic up on a bulletin board in the hall to display artwork.  I thought it was funny how big she was cheesin’!!

It’s Dr. Seuss week at school and they are having different dress up days (today is crazy hat day), but my favorite was “Mismatch Day”.  I thought EC fit the part!

Yet Another ?Winter? Weekend

To celebrate the last weekend in February, we played golf, played at the park, took golf cart rides, wore short sleeves and shorts and did just about everything one would normally expect to do in February.  Oh wait.

The weather has been gorgeous for the past few weeks here, ranging from mid 60’s to mid 70’s and we are definitely not complaining!  Even though daylight savings is less than two weeks away and spring is just around the corner, it really has felt that way for a month now.  We hope March doesn’t bring too many wintery days.

So even though we did all of those things, I only have pictures from the indoor activities.  I had some embroidering to do for a friend, so I enlisted Emmy Cate’s help!

And because that wasn’t exciting enough, she decided to take off all of her clothes (she does this by herself with no help from us!) and tackle Daddy.  He was/is under the weather (again), so he didn’t mind and they spent some time cuddling on the floor!

Weekend with Papaw

Papaw came to visit this weekend and Emmy Cate was beyond excited to see him!   As usual, she didn’t want anything to do with Mommy and Daddy once a new playmate was in the house.

Before Papaw got into town, we hung out on the deck with some friends after a round of golf.  Since it has been in the 60-70s for the past couple of weeks, Emmy Cate has really gotten hooked on golf cart rides and was happy to take one with our friends.

Once Papaw arrived, it was on!  He wasn’t afraid of getting down on the floor to horse around, and Emmy Cate wasted no time taking advantage of that!

We also couldn’t pass up another opportunity to ride on the golf cart, so Nathan and Papaw took her out for another ride to enjoy yet another beautiful day on Sunday.

Emmy Cate got completely wound up on Sunday night and had Papaw running, chasing, and climbing and crawling around on the floor.  She thought it was the best – can you tell??!!

Before leaving, Emmy Cate just had to check out Papaw’s “new” motorcycle … the Blue Bandit we call it!!

After eating lunch and saying our goodbyes, we went to the golf store and EC looked up at me and asked “Where’d Papaw go?”  It’s probably the first real question she has ever asked us.  She is starting to catch on to that whole “subject-verb” thing.  Her other favorite sentences “Papaw go home” and “Papaw ride bike”.

Happy President’s Day!  Arrivederci long weekend!

Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star

Emmy Cate’s medley of “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star”, “Baa Baa Black Sheep” and “Elmo’s Song”.  Her favorite thing to sing is “That’s Elmo’s Song!!!” which is at the very end.  When we took the video she was very excited about the Pennies for Patients box she brought home to collect change for sick kids so that was distracting her from her vocal talents!
