Mt. Pisgah Harvest Party

On Friday, Emmy Cate’s class, the Grace classroom, had their “Harvest Party”, not to be confused with a Halloween Party since that isn’t a Christian holiday, but who’s counting?  Nevertheless, it was a Halloween Party and all of the kiddos dressed and and had lost of fun showing off their friends to their parents.

EC fluttered in as a pretty cute little butterfly fairy!  She looked adorable in her costume and actually was so distracted that she tolerated it pretty well and didn’t try to pull her headband or wings off until much later!!

All of the mommy’s brought food and drinks and there were plenty of activities for the little ones too.  Emmy Cate had a blast running around and “talking” to the other moms and kids.  She makes herself right at home with a crowd, not afraid to be the center of attention!  At one point, she took over another mom’s lap until their little guy decided he didn’t like that very much!!

They had little pumpkins for the kids to paint.  After last weekend, EC was an old pro and painted her pumpkin purple!

They also iced sugar cookies and gave the kids sprinkles and colored sugar to decorate them.  Emmy Cate was all about the decorating but didn’t want to have anything to do with eating the actual cookie!  Just like her parents she doesn’t like sweets!!

At one point, we attempted to get the whole class to sit together and pose for a picture.  EC, Liam, Brandon, and Beau were all about it, but the rest of the class were NOT having any part of it!!  This was the best shot we could get!

Pro and DeDe came for the weekend and were happy to be able to attend her party and see all of the kiddos run around together!EC and Pro and Dede

Pumpkin Patch

On Saturday, we took Emmy Cate to a nearby pumpkin patch to pick out pumpkins, get some pictures, and go on a hayride!!  Even though it’s late October, we didn’t get to experience any fall weather!  The high’s were in the 80’s and it got pretty toasty in the sun!

They had some baby animals – a cow, goat, pigs, chickens, and roosters – but it wasn’t exactly a petting zoo.  Signs on all of the cages said “Animals Bite”!  Ooops.

After we left the pumpkin patch, we headed back to our neighborhood club house for a Pumpkin Painting Party with all of the other neighborhood kiddos.  They had plenty of paint and tons of little pumpkins for the kids to paint.

After painting her masterpiece, we headed to the playground to slide and run with all of the other kids.  They were having a Movie in the Park and they were showing Monsters, Inc in honor of Halloween.  They had a popcorn stand and hot dogs and the whole works!  The movie didn’t start until dusk and Emmy Cate is still a bit too small to sit for a movie, so we skipped that part.

One of the other kids had two itty bitty kittens in a cage and Emmy Cate couldn’t get enough of them!!  She squealed everytime she petted one of them!

Chuck E Cheese

One night this week, we took Emmy Cate to something I knew and loved as a kid – Chuck E Cheese!  After going, I’m convinced that it hasn’t changed in the slightest (I had a flashback to begging my parents for more tokens so I could win tickets at skeeball to buy those plastic trolls with the neon hair!!)!!  The food is still bad, the games and “rides” are very entertaining, and the prizes you win are still terrible!!  But Emmy Cate loved it!

There is a Chuck E Cheese just a few minutes away and I imagine this won’t be our last trip.  They have a toddler area with a slide and small climbing area which Emmy Cate was more than happy to play on, but she also just loved to run around and look at all of the different rides, games, flashing lights.  She wasn’t totally convinced by the “big rat” (as her dad called it), aka Chuck E Cheese when he came around to greet the kids.

Here we are eating our pizza … would not recommend it!  For those of you who don’t know, Chuck E Cheese is free to go to and play, but you have to buy tokens to ride the rides or play the games, and those aren’t even that expensive – a quarter a ride – but it’s the food where they make their money.  Soooo not good.

This was too funny not to include.  We put Emmy Cate on the very first ride and turned it on.  Well, it’s one that takes a picture of you with Chuck E Cheese while you are riding.  I guess Emmy Cate wasn’t quite prepared for the motion …. see what you think!!

Matt & Hillary’s Shower

This weekend, my sister-in-law and cousin-in-law threw my cousin’s-in-law (complete mouthful to get that out right!), Matt and Hillary, a baby shower for their little boy, Myles Avery, who is due in a couple of months!  I got to do the invitations and decorations and I had a lot of fun planning it all out and creating a cute diaper cake, favors and all of the other fun things!   Now we just can’t wait to meet baby Myles!

Emmy Cate stayed home with Nathan while I was up in North Carolina.  Unfortunately, she wasn’t feeling to hot on Sunday and they hit a bit of a rough patch!  Here are a couple of blurry pics from Nathan’s blackberry!

Block Party

I’m a little behind on posts, so this was a couple of weeks ago, but we, along with our favorite neighbors, hosted a block party in our cul-de-sac for the nearest neighbors.  We had a GREAT turnout and had probably 40 people from nearby homes.  This year, that included 3 little tykes!!

Our neighbors did most of the work and they went all out with flowers and decor, heat lamps, etc.  Everyone had a great time, especially the kiddos!

Luckily for us (and some of the other parents!), we hired a sitter for the night.  I think she ended up watching all 3 kids …oops!!
